I am a bad blogger. I haven't been doing much of anything. I did put together another kids quilt but I have not layered or quilted it yet. I have so many things I could be doing. Maybe that is why I don't get any one thing finished. Too many things to do. A few days ago I bumped the stake pounder in the garage and it fell on my foot. OHHHHHHHH the pain!! I am doing ok now. It hurts but not to bad. I can still walk and it's only slightly swollen

I haven't been in much of a mood to quilt lately. I made a Halloween decoration a couple weeks ago and last night I did start on another kids quilt. I have spent some time in my sewing room and cleaned, picked up and dusted. The weather is changing and the days and nights are cooler. Such a relief from the heat.

Amazing how time just slips by. I posted a picture of my table runner in June and I just now finished it tonight.
Made a great find at a yard sale on Sunday. Quite by accident actually. A friend called and said she had been to a yard sale on Sat and the lady was selling fabric and yarn. I snapped to attention with the mention of fabric. I ended up with 15 yards for $14. I so wanted some of the yarn. She was selling it for $1 each. It is all brand new and so tempting. I do love to crochet but can't see myself making anything any time soon so I passed it up.
Welcome Fall. Hope everyone had a great summer

It's been awhile since I wrote anything here. My daughter and I took a vacation, July 19th-28th. We went to Disneyland and a quilt show in Long Beach Calif. We also went to Catalina. It was great fun and I even went on the zip line. Now that was an experience. That first step is a doozy. Now we are back in the real world lol.

I finally did a little digitizing over the last few days. Here are three of my designs. Thought I would try them on black fabric this time. Got an odd effect which doesn't look too bad. I don't have any black stabilizer and the white came through and showed up on the camera. Looks like I used a red and white thread. Nope!! just red.

Today I finished my 10th Quilt for Kids quilt. I really like how it looks. I did have the center block solid but that wasn't the look I wanted for this quilt so I re did them and made the center the back ground. I like it much better.
I also have fabric for another quilt which will go to a friends daughter.

Slow going
I am working on a baby quilt but it's slow going. Hopefully I will be finished in the next few days. Off to Vegas tomorrow for some shopping and to pay the mortgage. Shannon got a few extra dollars this week for working some OT so we are going to treat the dogs to some bagels. Casper has never had one so this should be fun to see how she reacts to it.

What Fun

I purchased a book titled Piece in the Hoop by Larisa Bland. Today I found time to do one of the projects. Since you piece blocks in the hoop, and you have to press seams, you need a pressing pad that fits under the hoop. So that is what I made today as my first project. It was fast and easy. The underside is a piece of teflon fabric. There are many projects in the book and the author also has a website where you can purchase other block patterns.

Hopefully today I will finish my next Quilts for Kids quilt. Just have to sew down the binding. Thought I would share a couple dog stories today. I took my sister to the local animal shelter yesterday. She is considering a second dog. SOOOOOOO many scared faces. I wanted to bring all of them home. Can't do that anymore since I don't have a means to get them adopted but it doesn't stop my heart from hurting for them. So my plea would be to check your local shelter or local rescue for a new member of your family. I have 4 registered dogs, 3 beagles and a pug but they are all spayed, no breeding here and there is nothing wrong with haveing purebreds but don't forget those lost souls at the rescue's and shelters. There are also specialty rescues for most breeds of dog so look for one of those also. For the record I still have 6 rescue dogs with different issues that need forever homes and 7 of my own that are rescues.
My dogs like carrots and bananas. So weird they are :). Do any of you have dogs with such quircky eating habits?? I can't even open the refrigerator anymore and I have dogs waiting for a bite of a carrot. Gotta love them!!

In 2007 my 4 internet buddies and I did a block exchange. Nikki mentioned we should do it again. Here are my blocks that I have not done anything with (the story of my life)I have them in a bag on the "I will make something with it someday" shelf. Maybe if we do some more I can make a lap quilt out of them.

Another NQD has come and gone and I didn't do much quilting. I did however put borders on this block on Friday. I painted it last year and still don't know what to do with it. I am thinking I should leave it as is for now and maybe try to paint a couple more scenes and make a banner. Not sure. I do like how the border looks.

National Quilting Day
Don't forget tomorrow/Sat is National Quilting Day. Take the day off and just QUILT ALL DAY!!! Ok so I dream a lot.
Not much new this week. I didn't do much quilting but have some ideas in my head so think today I will work on making those ideas into something.

My daughter and I took my sister to Las Vegas yesterday. We visited a few quilt shops. She recently moved to Pahrump and is just starting to quilt. We wanted to show her what is available and where to shop. I was very proud that I didn't go crazy and buy buy buy. This picture is the fabric I bought. Sooooooooooooo pretty. Can you tell I love green?

Yesterday my daughter Shannon and I actually spent some time in the sewing room. She worked on some cloth books for a friends son and I decided to try out the "quilt halo" my sister gave me. Several years ago I entered an ugly fabric contest and the wall hanging that resulted from that is what I am practicing on. I think I like it. It works good as long as there is a flat surface under the quilt and to my amazement it is easy to use. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and arthritis. Holding my arms up for long periods is tireing and trying to control the fabric makes my hands hurt. I found I can relax more and not fight to move the quilt. The limited area to stitch in will take some time to get used to but all in all it is a good product.

Both of my friends, Lou and Kathie, had quilt projects to post about this week. I do not... I think all I have accomplished this weekend is to pick out coordinating fabrics to go with the 2 pieces I bought on Friday and to start a beading project.
I don't work outside the home but some days it sure feels like it when I have dogs and errands to take care of. We had a scare yesterday with one of the dogs. His name is Wesley, he is a Chow/Newfoundland mix. Quite the character he is. We came home yesterday afternoon and found a trash can with a green garbage bag in it, half full of dog food, outside of our fence. I pulled the can inside but left it by the gate. Nice of someone to give us food, or so we thought, but not something already opened. Wesley was acting strange and stayed up by the gate. Last night we went up to see if he was ok and looked in the bag and the food is moldy. We promptly threw it away. DID SOMEONE FEED SOME TO WES AND THAT IS WHY HE IS ACTING SO ODDLY??? we worried all night but this morning he is fine and wagging his tail and smiling happily.

While running around with my sister yesterday I picked up some new fabric for 2 kids quilts. I am almost finished with one sent to me by Quilts for Kids. I really need to finish the binding today and get it mailed tomorrow. I hope to start the next two in a few days.
I worked for a time for a dog rescue. Before I knew it I was the president of the organization and trying to rescue and adopt out dogs. With no volunteers it was more than I could handle alone. I still take care of 6 of the dogs that were not adopted before I closed the rescue down. They, along with my own 13 dogs, take up most of my time these days. My daughter and I are trying to remodel our home after 3 years of puppies in the house so some of my blogging will be about the dogs and my struggles to fit them and my quilting and house remodeling into a day.

Hello

This is my first day of blogging. I am joining two friends who blog, Kathie and Marylou.
Today I am working on a quilt that will be donated to "Quilts for Kids". I was introduced to this great charity by my friend and fellow blogger Kathie (Quilts by Kathie). I am on my 6th quilt for this group and hope to do many more this year.
I have a friend who has an 11 year old son with Leukemia. I made this quilt for him recently
